About the College

A young but promising and flourishing College, Government General Degree College, Mohanpur, Paschim Medinipur began its auspicious journey in the year 2015. A stately initiative of the Government of West Bengal with the noble objective of ensuring quality education for the students of the rural and semi-urban areas of Mohanpur and adjoining locality the college is built to meet the aspiration of having an institute for higher education for the local people. With five academic departments the college started functioning in the temporary locale of a building in the Mohanpur High School premises. The construction of the college buildings and the decoration of the new campus are swiftly on the way of completion and the college hopes to get shifted to its new and fine campus very soon. The new campus is located in a beautiful scenic environment at Sialsai by the side of the Khakurda--Mohanpur Road. Although it is at its juvenile state, the college, since its very inception, has committed itself to the goal of unearthing the latent possibilities of the students of the locality by imparting quality higher education and proving scope for extra-curricular activities with its dedicated faculty members, and well-equipped supporting and administrative staff by confirming every possible supports from the local administration. The College is affiliated to Vidyasagar University.

Principal of Government General Degree College Mohanpur Mohanpur is an administrative division in Kharagpur Subdivision of Paschim Medinipur district in Indian state of West Bengal. With a population of more than a lakh, the region had the aspiration of having an institute fr higher education for the local people. Thus Government General Degree College, Mohanpur, Paschim Medinipur was an initiative of the West Bengal Government with an aim of providing quality education to the students of Mohanpur and adjoining area.
The college offers BA. (Honours) and Pass courses in the subjects :
1) English, 2) Bengali, 3) History, 4) Philosophy and 5) Sociology
for the academic session 2015-2016 with a plan of accommodating more subjects from science stream in future. I hereby welcome the students of the area to enroll themselves in the college for a better career , quality teaching and bring prospect.
